My name is Randy Raasch and I have been a golf enthusiast for quite some time. I began playing golf back in my teenage years for fun and the enjoyment of the game. This carried on through college, even though there wasn’t much time due to studying. After college, I would get together with friends for a round of golf whenever possible. As time went on, my professional life began to take over. Between work and family there just wasn’t much time for anything else and golfing took a backseat. Sound familiar?
Fast-forward twenty-five years…. I figured it was about time to add some recreational activity back into my life so I decided to take up golf again. Since so much time had elapsed, I sought out
during one outing…. at the top of my back swing I get this thought ‘Hey why don’t I try this technique’. Needless to say the shot was a disaster. At the top of the back swing is not the time to switch gears.
I came to the conclusion that I was at information overload. The problem is that although many of these teaching aids gave some valuable advice and techniques, everyone has a different view on way it should be taught. Then there is the variety of instruction. PGA professionals do many of the web sites while the average golfer who just loves the game and wants to share their ideas does others.
Many of the PGA professionals try to teach the average golfer the same techniques they use for the gifted player. By doing so they are teaching techniques that go beyond the control boundary of the average golfer. The worst way for a golfer to learn to play better is to copy an extremely gifted player. What works for them will probably not work for you. After all, they were born with certain abilities and have dedicated their life to the sport by going out and practicing 6-8 hours a day if not more.
The Beginning of a New Search….
With all that in mind I decided it was time for a fresh start. Forget the majority of what I had learned up to that point and start over from the beginning. This time I was going to keep to the fundamentals. Any golfing aids or instructional material had to adhere to the following criteria:
1.) Simple and easy to follow steps.
2.) Keep within the framework of the average golfer’s control boundaries.
3.) No products that promise a quick fix.
4.) Doesn’t require an excess amount of practice.
5.) Will not cost a small fortune.
Let’s face it, most of us golfers play golf as a recreational sport. We enjoy getting out on a beautiful day to play around of golf on a great course with our friends. The only thing that would make it better is if we could improve our game to the point of eliminating the frustration and adding some enjoyment back into our game. The game of golf is definitely more fun when you find your ball in the fairway as opposed to looking for it in the rough.
A New Web Site was Born
And that brings us to why I put this web site together. I figured there were plenty of other golfers out there in the same boat as me. Spending money on golfing products and not seeing the results they expected. So I decided to put this web site together in order to share with my fellow golfers what I have found on my new search for a better instructional program. Products that actually work, are easy to follow, don’t cost a lot and won’t have you spending a tremendous amount time practicing. In addition I am putting together a blog post so that I can send out information periodically regarding golfing tips, articles, points of interest or something on the lighter side of golf. Information that you may find useful, interesting or just plain amusing.
The fact is, any golf tip that helps you play better golf is a good golf tip. Once you get over trying to emulate what the gifted player is doing, you will come up with your own golf tips based upon what works for you. And that is the ultimate goal, to bring more enjoyment back to your game.
I hope in time, that we might be able to form our own little golfing community. And who knows… down the road we might be able to organize a golf outing or two.
